REMOVAL - REFITTING FRONT PIVOT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] hub immobilising tool (-).0606 AY .

[2] pivot spreading tool (-).0903 AE .

[3] ball joint extractor (-).0709 .

2 - REMOVAL

Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended .

Remove :

• the wheel
• the clip (1) and the cage (2)

Use tool [1] to prevent the hub from turning .

Unscrew the drive shaft nut .

WARNING : never apply the brakes to tighten the nut ; there is a risk of shearing the brake disc bolts .

Remove :

• the bolts (3)
• the brake disc
• the nut (4)
• the pivot clamp nut (5) and bolt (6)
• the nut (7)

Extract the steering ball joint and the pivot ball joint using the ball joint extractor [3] .

Position the tool [2] in the slot in the pivot .

Turn a quarter turn to open the pivot .

Remove the pivot .

3 - REFITTING

WARNING : do not move the vehicle when the drive shafts are removed or unscrewed to avoid damaging the bearings .

Proceed in the reverse order to removal .

Replace the Nyloc nuts with new nuts and replace the pivot clamp bolt as well .

IMPERATIVE : ensure the damper is located correctly in relation to the pivot .

Position :

• the boss (A) in the groove (B)
• the boss (C) in its locked position on the pivot

TIGHTEN THE FRONT AXLE .

Use tool [1] to prevent the hub from turning .

Tighten the drive shaft nut to 32,5 da.Nm. .

Fit :

• the race (2)
• the pin (1)
• the wheels

Tighten the wheel bolts to 9 da.Nm .

Return the vehicle to its wheels .
