CHECK END OF COMPRESSION PRESSURES

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] Dummy plug + compression meter adapter (-).0188-U .

[2] Flywheel setting rod (-).0188-Y .

[3] flywheel stop (-).0188-F .

[4] FACOM 910A type sealing checker .

[5] Diesel engine adapter, FACOM 910.A6 type .

2 - CHECK

Ensure that the speed of engine rotation, driven by the starter, is correct (Minimum value : 250 rpm) .

Check to be made : Engine cold .

Remove the engine style cover .

Disconnect :

• the battery
• the engine control ECU
• pre/post heat plugs supply

Insulate the glow plugs supply lead .

DW10TD ENGINE

Remove : The diesel repriming pump support .

ALL MODELS

Remove :

• the right-hand bracket of the styling cover
• the glow plugs supply rail
• the glow plugs

Position :

• tool [1] and its adapter (depending on the type of compression tester) on cylinder no. 1; tightening torque 1 da.Nm
• the compression recorder

Connect the battery .

Measure the end of compression pressure on the cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4 in order :

• {{n12820}} valeur minimale : de 20 a 22 bars
• the maximum permissible difference between cylinders is 2 bars

If the values are low, before deciding on an engine overhaul, check the status of the air filter .

3 - COMPRESSION LOSS MEASUREMENT

Check to be made : With the engine hot .

DW10ATED ENGINE PARTICLE FILTER

Remove :

• the turbo pipe
• remove the sub-frame impactor stiffener

ALL MODELS

Peg the flywheel using the rod [2] .

Draw lines (A) on the housing and the pulley, to mark the top dead centre (tdc) .

Insert the flywheel stop [3] .

Remove the rod [2] .

Determine which cylinder is at the end of compression phase (1 or 4), using tools [1], [4] and [5]; Tighten tool [1] to 1 daN.m .

Connect the measuring equipment using the modified end piece (see equipment instructions) .

Read the loss of compression (Average value 20 % .

If the value is incorrect, faulty parts can be located by locating the noise made by the passage of air .

Repeat the operation for the 3 other cylinders carrying out a half-revolution of the crankshaft each time and make the marks drawn on the pulley match up .

Tightening torque(s) :

• glow plugs ; 1 da.Nm
