DRAINING - FILLING - BLEEDING COOLING SYSTEM

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] filling cylinder (-).0173-2 .

[2] Pliers (-).0165 .

2 - DRAINING

WARNING : the draining operation is carried out when cold .

Remove the cap from the expansion tank .

Remove :

• the collars (1) - (2)
• the bolt (3)

Disconnect the connector (4) .

Remove the intake pipe (5) .

NOTE : place a tray under the radiator to drain the circuit cleanly .

Open the bleed screws (A)-(B) .

Disconnect the lower hose (6) from the radiator (use the tool [2]) .

Drain the engine by removing the plug (7) .

Close the bleed screws .

3 - FILLING AND BLEEDING THE SYSTEM

Before any re-filling operation, flush the cooling circuit with clean water .

WARNING : check the cooling system for leaks .

Fit the filling cylinder [1] to the filler opening .

Open the bleed screws .

Fill the circuit slowly with coolant .

Close the bleed screws when the liquid flows without bubbles .

The filling cylinder must be filled to the 1 litre mark to bleed the heater matrix correctly .

Start the engine .

Maintain a speed between 1500 and 2000 rpm until the end of the second cooling cycle (the cooling fan(s) cutting in then stopping) while keeping the filling cylinder full to the 1 litre mark .

Stop the engine .

Remove the filling cylinder [1] .

Immediately tighten the plug on the expansion chamber .

If necessary fill up to the level of the maximum mark ; Engine cold .
