REMOVAL - REFITTING FUEL FILTER

1 - REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery .

Place a draining tray under the engine .

Disconnect :

• the fuel pipes (1) - (2)
• the connector for the heating element (3)
• the connector for the water detector ; according to specification

IMPERATIVE : cover the fuel connectors with covers supplied in the filter kit .

Unscrew the cover (4) using a strap spanner (FACOM 138 30) .

Remove :

• the fuel filter assembly (7) from its bracket
• the cover (4)
• the seal from the cover (5)
• the filter element (6)

Drain into a drainage container the diesel contained in the fiter .

Pour the degreasing agent SODIMAC 35 into a container .

Clean the fuel filter bowl using a brush .

Before refitting, allow the fuel filter bowl to drip .

IMPERATIVE : only use RESISTEL cloths ; available from Parts Division .

WARNING : do not use compressed air .

Tighten the drain screw of the float chamber .

2 - REFITTING

IMPERATIVE : open the sachet containing the new filter element just before refitting .

Fit :

• the fuel filter bowl (7) on its support
• the new filter element (6)
• a new seal (5)

WARNING : mounting of the diesel filter assembly on a vice is strictly prohibited .

Remove the central closing piece (8) from the cover .

Ensure that the cover is correctly positioned (locating lugs (A)) .

Refit the cover (4) and tighten it manually until the identification marks (B) - (C) are reached .

Tighten the cover (4) using a strap spanner .

IMPERATIVE : do not go beyond the maximum paint mark when tightening .

Reconnect :

• the fuel connectors (1) - (2)
• the connector for the heating element (3)
• the connector for the water detector ; according to specification
• the battery

Re-prime the diesel circuit using the priming pump .

Initialise the various ECUs .

2 - 1 - LEAKAGE CHECK

Start the engine .

Check that there are no fuel leaks .
