REMOVAL - REFITTING GEARBOX CONTROLS

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] Tool for unclipping 10 dia. ball joints (-).0216-G1 .

[2] Tool for unclipping 13 dia. ball joints (-).0216-G2 .

2 - IDENTIFICATION

(1) Selection cable .

(2) Gear change cable .

(3) Reaction rod .

3 - REMOVAL

Unclip the gaiter (4) from the central console .

Remove the knob-gaiter assembly by pulling upwards (A) .

remove the centre console .

Remove the 4 gear lever (5) fixing nuts .

Remove :

• the air cleaner assembly
• the oil vapour breather pipes
• the air filter/air flow meter union
• the battery and its support

WARNING : there is one battery support bolt (6) behind the left mud guard .

Unclip the gear lever ball joints (7) : using tools [1] and [2] .

Raise the vehicle .

Remove the heat shield fixings and place the heat shield on the exhaust line .

Unclip the gear lever cables from the bracket using an electrician's screwdriver .

Remove the gear lever assembly .

4 - REFITTING

apply grease to the ball joints .

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .

Tighten the nuts (5) to 0,8 da.Nm .

refit the centre console .

Refit the knob-gaiter assembly .

5 - TIGHTENING TORQUE(S)

Gear lever bracket fixing on gearbox : 1.9 da.Nm .

lubricate the shafts and ball joints with grease .
