REMOVAL - REFITTING FRONT PIVOT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS


[1] Hub locking tool (-).0606AY .

[2] Pivot ball joint extractor (-).0709 .


[3] Swivel ball joint uncoupling lever (-).0622 .

2 - REMOVAL

Place the vehicle on a lift .

Slacken the wheel bolts .

Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended .

Remove the wheel .


Remove the clip (1) and the cage (2) .

Use tool [1] to prevent the hub from turning .

Unscrew the drive shaft nut (3) .

WARNING : never apply the brakes to tighten the nut ; there is a risk of shearing the brake disc bolts .


Remove :


Remove :

Extract the wishbone from the pivot using the tool [2] .

Detach the wishbone from the pivot using the tool [3] .

WARNING : when carrying out the operation, take care not to damage the pivot ball joint protector .


Remove the nut (8) .

Uncouple the pivot and the steering tierod .

Remove the securing bolts (9) .

Support the suspended drive shaft .

Remove the pivot supporting the drive shaft to avoid detaching it from the differential .

3 - REFITTING

WARNING : do not move the vehicle when the drive shafts are removed or unscrewed to avoid damaging the bearings .

Proceed in the reverse order to removal .

Fit new Nyloc nuts .

Replace the caliper fixing bolts with new bolts (pre-coated with thread lock) .

3 - 1 - TIGHTENING TORQUES

Steering ball joint nut 5 daNm .

Pivot/strut fixing 9 da.Nm .

Wheel sensor fixing 0.9 da.Nm .

Drive shaft nut 32.5 da.Nm .

Caliper/pivot fixing 10.5 da.Nm .

Pivot/wishbone fixing 5 da.Nm .

Disc fixing bolt 1 da.Nm .
