REMOVAL - REFITTING SCREEN WIPER MECHANISM

WARNING : start the engine, then, with the ignition off, press the windscreen wiper stalk downwards to place the mechanism in the delivery position ; a second press will return it to the park position .

1 - REMOVAL

REMOVE THE WINDSCREEN WIPER ARMS .

Remove :

• the bolts (1) and detach the brake reservoir (2)
• the engine style cover(according to specification)
• the air cleaner housing (3)
• the fuse box lid (4)
• the battery cover (5)
• the battery

Remove :

• the clips (6)
• the soundproofing (7), unclipping it from the particulate emission filter access flap
• the side soundproofers (8)
• the windscreen base crossmember bolts (9)
• the cross beam (10)
• the clips (11)
• the scuttle grille (12)
• the moveable part of the battery tray (13)

Unclip the harness (14) clamp .

Remove :

• the clips (15), unscrewing them by hand
• the soundproofing (16)

Disconnect the windscreen wiper motor .

TU5JP4 ENGINE

Remove :

• the air inlet duct (17)
• the throttle housing mounting bolts (18), then detach the throttle housing

Remove the seal (19) .

IMPERATIVE : using adhesive tape, close the inlet manifold inlet .

ALL MODELS

Using a screwdriver, unclip the connecting rod (20) .

IMPERATIVE : using adhesive tape, protect the front strut mountings upper brackets .

Remove the windscreen wiper mechanism side mounting bolts (21) and central nut (22) .

Disconnect the electric window mechanism connector .

Detach the mechanism from the dowel pins .

WARNING : during the following operations, ensure that the windscreen and the connecting rod (20) do not come into contact in the zone (A) .

Press at (B) and raise at (C) to pass the mechanism over the left shock absorber fixing (23) .

Press again at (B) and tilt the mechanism forward (D) to pass the yoke (24) of the mechanism under the windscreen .

Press at (E) and raise at (F) to pass the mechanism over the right shock absorber fixing (25) .

Tilt the mechanism following (G) to detach it forward .

Remove the screen wiper mechanism .

2 - REFITTING

Proceed in the reverse order to removal .

WARNING : the operator must ensure that the two dowel pins (26) located behind the reduction geared motor are fitted (otherwise the mechanism rises with a risk of malfunction and may come into contact with the windscreen) ; only blind touch makes it possible to determine whether the pins are in their location .

Refit the (21) mechanism fixings (22) .

Tighten :

• the fastenings (21) to 1 ± 0.25 da.Nm
• the fastenings (22) to 1 ± 0.25 da.Nm

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .

Connect the battery .

Start the engine .

IMPERATIVE : press downward on the windscreen wipers stalk to return the mechanism to the park position .

Switch off the ignition .

FIT THE WINDSCREEN WIPER ARMS .

Test operation .
