TIMING CHECK CAMSHAFT CHAIN

1 - PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS

Remove :

• the style covers
• the top timing cover

WARNING : fit the coolant pump fixing bolt to prevent a coolant leak .

Ignition off : Disconnect the battery .

Remove the bolt (1) .

NOTE : the bolt (1) has a captive washer .

Remove the target sensor (2) on the cylinder head cover .

Move aside The fuel return pipe from the clip .

Remove :

• the 2 click clips of the 2 pipes relating to the cylinder head cover
• the 2 pipes
• the cylinder head cover

2 - TIMING CHECK

Carry out some engine revolutions until the black links (A) of the chain (3) coincide with the identification marks (B) of the camshaft pinions (4) (maximum number of camshaft revolutions : 40) .

NOTE : to make the operation easier, it is advisable to remove the pre-heat plugs .

When the chain is in this position, make 40 camshaft revolutions to ensure that the black links (5) again coincide with the identification marks (B) of the camshaft pinions (4) .

if this is not the case, remove the camshafts and adjust them .

fit the cylinder head cover .

Put back in place the fuel return hose in the clip .

Fit :

• the separator pipes and click clips
• refit and adjust the air gap of the sensor

Remove the coolant pump fixing bolt .

Refit the upper timing cover : Tightening torque 0.7 da.Nm .

Tighten the coolant pump bolts : 1.5 da.Nm .

Connect the battery .

Refit the styling covers .
