REMOVAL - REFITTING CAMSHAFT
1 - SPECIAL TOOLS
[1] lip seal fitting drift (-).0188-N .
[2] Flywheel setting rod (-).0188-X .
[3] flywheel stop (-).0188-F .
[4] Camshaft setting rod (-).0188-M .
2 - REMOVAL
Remove :
remove the timing belt .
Set the TDC sensor, Using the tool [2] .
Run up the bolts .
remove the injectors with the studs .
Disconnect the connector (5) .
Remove :
Move aside the vacuum pipe (8) on the braking assistance .
Remove the exhauster (9) .
Gradually loosen the securing bolts in sequence .
Remove :
Clean the joint faces with an approved descaling product ; Do not use sharp or abrasive tools .
3 - REFITTING
Check the status of the chain plate .
Remove the rod [2] from the flywheel .
Fit the stop [3] .
Fit : The crankshaft pulley bolt .
Remove the stop [3] .
Turn the crankshaft a quarter turn in the opposite direction to running (Pistons at mid-stroke) .
Deposit a line of sealing compound at (A) around the edge of the mating surfaces .
Refit the camshafts and set them .
IMPERATIVE : the black links (11) should always be turned towards the timing side .
Setting the camshafts is by placing the black links (11) of the chain (12) facing the marks (13) on the camshaft pinions (14) .
Fit :
Finger tighten then progressively tighten the securing bolts in the order shown .
Tighten the bolts to 1 daN.m .
Replace the pillar bolts securing the injectors .
Tighten the pillar bolts to 1 dan.m .
Remove :
Before fitting the camshaft seal, ensure that the bottom of the seat is free of sealing compound .
Apply grease to the space between the oil seal lips .
IMPERATIVE : the outer face of the lip seal must be free of all traces of oil .
Fit a new lip seal using tool [1] .
Fit :
Set the camshaft hub (7) (Using the tool [4]) .
Tighten the bolt (15) to 4.3 da.Nm .
IMPERATIVE : oil the O-rings before refitting .
Fit :
Tighten the bolts to 2 daN.m / The nut to 2 da.Nm .
Fit the cylinder head cover using a new gasket .
Run up the bolts .
Gradually tighten the cylinder head cover bolts in a spiral starting from the inside (Tightening torque: 0.9 da.Nm) .
Turn the crankshaft, a 1/4 turn in the direction of rotation .
Peg the flywheel using the rod [2] .
Fit the camshaft gear .
Adjust the sensor air gap (8) .
refit the timing belt .
refit the injectors with new copper seals .
Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
