B2GE03K1 - 607

OPERATION WHEELS

1 - PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN

IMPERATIVE : any work on wheels fitted with tyre under-inflation detection requires certain precautions .

IMPERATIVE : the 607 are fitted with asymmetrical tyres: observe the direction of fitting (dot on the outside) .

2 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] Torque screwdriver FACOM A.314A (0.2 - 10 da.Nm) .

[2] Socket FACOM R.12LA .

3 - REMOVAL - REFITTING TYRES

IMPERATIVE : any work on 17 inch wheels requires certain precautions to prevent damage to the wheel rim (A) .

Fit a special shoe [3] on the tyre lever .

Remove the tyre .

4 - REMOVAL - REFITTING TYRE UNDER-INFLATION TRANSMITTER

4 - 1 - IDENTIFICATION

The tyre under-inflation detection system can be identified by the aluminium valve (1) .

IMPERATIVE : if the core (2) is removed it must be replaced with a new part .

4 - 2 - REMOVAL

Remove the core (2) .

Remove the tyre .

Unscrew the nut (3) .

Remove the sensor (4) with its seal (5) .

4 - 3 - REFITTING

Refit the sensor (4) with its new seal (5) .

Tighten the nut (3) to 0.425 ± 0.075 da.Nm ; Using the tool [1] - [2] .

IMPERATIVE : observe the direction of fitting of the tyre (dot on the outside) .

Refit the tyre .

5 - LEARNING OF THE WHEEL TRANSMITTERS

IMPERATIVE : use diag 2000 (follow the procedure .

6 - WHEEL BALANCING

6 - 1 - WHEEL PREPARATION

Check :

Remove the existing weights from the wheel rim .

Carefully clean the wheel, in particular the areas which will receive the self-adhesive weights .

RECOMMENDED DEGREASING AGENT D3 .

Dry the wheel .

Prepare the areas to which the self-adhesive weights will be glued using sand paper (400 to 1200 grain) until a visibly uniform surface is obtained .

6 - 2 - POSITIONING OF THE WHEEL ON THE BALANCING EQUIPMENT

IMPERATIVE : use a balancer with a plate fitted with a 65 mm diameter centralising ring .

WARNING : no tightening by cone .

NOTE : when the wheel is placed on the vehicle, the play between the central bore of the wheel rim and the hub causes a decentring of several tenths of a millimetre .

It is important to take this decentring into account in order to correctly balance the wheel .

Tighten the wheel on the balancing equipment, with the valve at the top (the decentring is then opposite the valve) .

6 - 3 - BALANCING

Balance according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer of the balancer .

NOTE : check the calibration of the balancer, after changing to a platform fitted with a centring ring diameter 65 mm .

If it is not possible to obtain residual imbalances of less than 5 g, calibrate the balancing equipment .

If the imbalance is greater than 50 g, for the exterior or interior surface of the wheel :

If the imbalance is still greater than 50 g, replace the tyre .

A: Clipped weights .

B: Bonded weights .

Use of self-adhesive weights :

IMPERATIVE : use self-adhesive weights less than 7.5 mm thick .

IMPERATIVE : the weight should be applied no more than 10 minutes after cleaning .

7 - FITTING THE WHEEL TO THE VEHICLE

Grease the central bore of alloy wheels to facilitate future removal of the wheels ; G9 GREASE .

When re-fitting the wheel to the vehicle, position the valve at the top (decentring opposite the valve as on the balancing equipment) .

Pre-tighten the securing bolts, with the wheel raised .

Position the wheel with the valve at the bottom (the de-centring will still be opposite the valve when the vehicle is on its wheels) .

Return the vehicle to its wheels .

Tighten the wheel bolts to the recommended torque : 9 da.Nm .
