REMOVAL - REFITTING FRONT PIVOT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] hub immobilising tool (-).0606-AY .

[2] pivot spreading tool (-).0903-AE .

[3] ball joint extractor (-).0709 .

[4] Lever for uncoupling pivot ball joints (-).0622 .

2 - REMOVAL

Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended .

Remove :

Use tool [1] to prevent the hub from turning .

Unscrew the drive shaft nut .

WARNING : never apply the brakes to tighten the nut, there is a risk of shearing the brake disc bolts .

Remove :

Remove :

Extract the steering ball joint and the pivot ball joint using the ball joint extractor [3] .

Detach the swivel ball joint, Using the tool [4] .

Position the tool [2] in the slot in the pivot .

Turn a quarter turn to open the pivot .

NOTE : the tool automatically locks in the open position .

Remove the pivot .

3 - REFITTING

WARNING : do not move the vehicle when the drive shafts are removed or unscrewed to avoid damaging the bearings .

Replace the Nyloc nuts with new nuts and replace the pivot clamp bolt as well .

IMPERATIVE : ensure the damper is located correctly in relation to the pivot .

Position :

Press down the shock absorber to the stop limit (C) on the pivot .

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .

4 - TIGHTENING TORQUES

Tighten :

5 - REFITTING (CONTINUED)

Fit :

Tighten the wheel bolts to 9 da.Nm .

Return the vehicle to its wheels .
