REMOVAL - REFITTING FRONT SUSPENSION STRUT

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] pivot spreading tool (-).0903-AE .

[2] ball joint extractor (-).0709 .

[3] Lever for uncoupling pivot ball joints (-).0622 .

2 - REMOVAL

Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended .

Remove :

Remove :

Extract the steering ball joint and the pivot ball joint using the ball joint extractor [2] .

Detach the swivel ball joint, Using the tool [3] .

Position the tool [1] in the slot in the pivot .

Turn a quarter turn to open the pivot .

NOTE : the tool automatically locks in the open position .

Uncouple the pivot .

Refit the pivot on the wishbone .

Tie the pivot to the sub-frame with iron wire to prevent the drive shaft disconnecting .

Remove the 3 shock absorber upper mounting bolts .

Remove the strut .

3 - REFITTING

Replace the Nyloc nuts with new nuts and replace the pivot clamp bolt as well .

IMPERATIVE : ensure the damper is located correctly in relation to the pivot .

Position :

Press down the shock absorber to the stop limit (C) on the pivot .

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .

Top up the gearbox if necessary .

4 - TIGHTENING TORQUES

Tighten :

Tighten the wheel bolts to 9 da.Nm .

Return the vehicle to its wheels .
