REMOVAL - REFITTING HANDBRAKE SHOES
1 - SPECIAL TOOLS
[1] Pliers for removing and refitting brake spring (FACOM 196 TS type) .
2 - REMOVAL
Remove :
Completely unscrew the nut (1) while keeping the bolt (2) immobile .
Uncouple the left secondary handbrake cable at (A) .
Remove the locking clip (3) .
Unclip the cable at (B) .
Pull on the cable cover (4) according to (C) in order for the cable to appear .
To release the cable (5), carry out the following procedure :
Remove :
Clean the backplate (13) ( HENKEL) type product .
Clean, then grease, the adjusting mechanism (11) .
IMPERATIVE : clean the surface A of the hub with an abrasive cloth .
3 - REFITTING
WARNING : observe the direction of assembly of the adjustment mechanism (11) .
On the right-hand side :
On the left-hand side :
Assemble both brake shoes (10) and the ajustment mechanism (11) with the spring (12) .
NOTE : the ajustment mechanism (11) must be at the minimum separation point of the brake shoes (10) .
Fit :
Push the cable (5) into its housing until it locks in the brake shoes separation mechanism (7) .
NOTE : check that the end (5) of the cable is in the correct position .
Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
IMPERATIVE : adjust the handbrake .
IMPERATIVE : bed in the parking brake .
