AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM CHECK
1 - PRELIMINARY VISUAL CHECK(S)
stage | condition / action in progress | result |
---|---|---|
1 | switch on the ignition move the blower control to maximum speed |
(see stage 2) |
2 | is there blown air at the vents? | otherwise, check : (a) the condition of the pollen filter (b) the blower function (c) the mixer flap function - if correct : see stage 3 |
3 | is the belt tension correct? | otherwise : check the tension of the belt and replace it if necessary - if correct : see stage 4 |
4 | are the condenser and radiator harnesses clean? | otherwise : correctly clean the harnesses - if correct : use the diagnostic equipment and carry out a check of the air conditioning system |
5 | end of procedure | - |
IMPERATIVE : the outside temperature must be above 15 °C .
2 - PRESENTATION OF THE EQUIPMENT
2 - 1 - PRESENTATION OF THE MAIN TOOLS
[1] DIAL 2000 .
[2] Module GM 2000 :
(A) Display A .
(B) Display B .
(C) Display C .
(D) Functions .
2 - 2 - SETTING UP THE TOOLS
Connect the module GM 2000 [2f] and if necessary the printer on the DIAL 2000 [1] .
Connect the pressure sensor CLIM 400 (3), the thermocouple TK 120, and the temperature and hygrometry sensor TH 400 .
Connect the union [2a] of the module GM 2000 on terminals (+) and (-) of the battery .
Join the connection pipes (4) of the pressure sensor CLIM 400 (3) to the high/low pressure valves (5) of the vehicle .
Position the thermocouple TK 120 (6) on the high pressure pipe (7) coming from the condenser .
Retain the thermocouple on the pipe, preferably using aluminium adhesive tape (the quality of this last operation is very important) .
Place thermal insulation (sheath) around the thermocouple .
Connect the GM 2000 using a by-pass circuit to the supply (8) of the compressor .
Connect the GM 2000 as a by-pass on the pressostat (9) inserting the special harness 607 [3] .
Connect the GM 2000 [2d] as a by-pass on the fan assembly supply maxifuse (10) .
3 - AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FUNCTION DIAGNOSTICS
3 - 1 - CHECK (A)
stage | condition / action in progress | result |
---|---|---|
1 | with the engine stopped select the menu : air conditioning, then press the asterisk button to validate select : 607,press the Star button to confirm |
(see stage 2) |
2 | confirm the temperature and the percentage of outside humidity measurement is the temperature higher than 15 degrees C? |
otherwise, test impossible - return to the menu - if correct : see stage 3 |
3 | low pressure 2.5 bar(s) or above / high pressure 2.5 bar(s) or above | otherwise, fault(s) D1 : - refrigerant charge insufficient - recharge the circuit and carry out the test again (see : processing faults) - if correct : check (B) |
3 - 2 - CHECK (B)
stage | condition / action in progress | result |
---|---|---|
1 | start the engine stabilise the engine speed at 2000 rpm start the compressor (AC) distribution flap on centre vents temperature control on maximum cold blower in maximum position doors closed front windows open passenger compartment air inlet flap in the Recirculation position press the Star button to confirm |
(see stage 2) |
2 | keep the sensor TH 400 as close as possible to the centre vent wait for the blown air temperature to be in the range indicated on the display (C) (a change to this temperature can be seen in the display (A)) |
( see stage 3) |
3 | regulation phase(s) : maintain engine speed at 2000 rpm pressure shown in the display (A) and the temperature of the fluid in the display (B) |
( see stage 4) |
4 | check (C) | end of procedure |
3 - 3 - CHECK (C)
stage | condition / action in progress | result |
---|---|---|
1 | place the passenger compartment air inlet flap in the outside air position press the Star button to confirm |
(see stage 2) |
2 | stabilise the engine speed at 2000 rpm keep the sensor TH 400 as close as possible to the centre vent wait for the blown air temperature to be in the range indicated on the display (C) (a change to this temperature can be seen in the display (A)) |
( see stage 3) |
3 | regulation phase(s) : maintain engine speed at 2000 rpm pressure shown in the display (A) and the temperature of the fluid in the display (B) |
( see stage 4) |
4 | end of test display of fault codes in the display (C) and printing of the results on the printer to exit, press the hash symbol |
(see stage 5) |
5 | stop the engine switch off the ignition disconnect all the equipment and rectify the maxi-fuse (1) (according to vehicle, see : setting up the tools) |
end of procedure |
