What Does ASR Do?
ASR, prevents rear wheel spin caused by acceleration, resulting in better better use of available traction, and thus helps improve vehicle control.

ASR was introduced in the US for the 1991 Model Year.

While ABS helps mantain grip and thus control while braking, ASR works to maintain grip and control while accelerating.

 

asrinfo.jpg (17953 bytes) In a standard 'open' differential, torque will be transmitted through both drive wheels.  However, if one of the drive wheels in on a slippery surface, engine torque will be transmitted through the path of least resistance.
