Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has, over the years, developed several systems in the field of all-wheel control: TCL (Traction Control), ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), 4WS (four-wheel steering) and electronically-controlled 4WD (four-wheel drive). These developments have helped meet driver requirements for safer automobiles, and they have received high market acclaim. Mitsubishi Motors today announces the successful development of the world's first Active Yaw Control (AYC) system which transfers drive torque between the left and right driving wheels as required, thereby realizing dramatic improvements in cornering performance and, at the same time , elevating safety and driving fun to new levels. Mitsubishi Motors also announces the Active Stability Control (ASC) system which generates tuning force by employing breaking force differentials in left and right wheels.
The AYC and ASC all-wheel control systems maximize the adhesion limits of the vehicle's tires. Controlling each wheel individually, or so that the wheels mutually cooperate, AYC and ASC achieve dramatic improvements in vehicular safety and performance-acceleration and speed, cornering, stopping-and also elevate driving fun qualities to new heights.
