VAG-COM
OBD-II

(VAG 1551/1552 Address Word 33)

This an OBD-II compatibility-test only!

You can use this test to determine whether a car is ISO/OBD-II
compatible, i.e. whether it "speaks" the OBD-II protocols, if
the car uses the ISO-9141 hardware layer for OBD-II.

Note:
There are three different hardware standards for OBD-II.
Interface Adapters that work with VAG-COM only support
one of these, ISO-9141.   The ISO-9141 hardware layer is
used by most OBD-II compatible cars produced world-wide
except U.S.  Ford and GM products.   This test is useless
on U.S. Ford or GM vehicles.

OBD-II scan tools use completely different protocols
than those used by the proprietary VAG scan-tools
that VAG-COM emulates.  Please see the FAQ:
What's the difference between VAG-COM
and an OBD-II Scan-Tool?

OBD-II software that works through the ISO-COM
Interface Adapter that I ship with VAG-COM is
available for $62 directly from it's author,
 Alex Peper at www.obd-2.com

When ordering, please let Alex know that you need the
"Special version for my Ross-Tech Adapter".

Before ordering Alex's software, please make sure
that whatever car you intend to use it on passes
the OBD-II compatibility test in VAG-COM!
If it does, Alex's software is almost 100%
certain to work.   Exception:  At the present time,
Alex's software does not work under Windows NT
or Windows 2000.

Why would you want OBD-II software in addition to VAG-COM?
If you own a 1996 or newer car that is ISO/OBD-II compatible
in addition to your VW/Audi, you can now your ISO-COM
Adapter and Alex's software to do OBD-II diagnostics on that
car as well!

Note:
We do not sell or provide support for Alex's Software.
Please direct all inquiries and questions directly to Alex
