REMOVAL - REFITTING SUB-FRAME
1 - SPECIAL TOOLS
[1] Ball joint extractor (-).0903-AF .
[2] Swivel ball joint uncoupling lever (-).0622 .
[3] Positioning calipers (-).C0623 .
2 - REMOVAL
Lock the steering column in the low outlet position .
Open : The fuse box flap (1) .
Remove the bolts (2) .
Remove the cover under the instrument panel (3) .
IMPERATIVE : push the knob (3) to immobilise it in relation to lateral movement of the steering column (knob travel (3) = 1 mm) .
Remove the bolt (4) .
Release the steering universal joint by moving aside the safety clip (5) .
Remove the securing bolts (6) .
Move aside the accelerator pedal and its bracket .
Remove the bolts (7) .
Remove the seal (8) .
Remove the bolts (9) .
Remove the steering column shaft, including the lower universal joint (10) .
Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended .
Remove :

Uncouple the height sensor rod (11) at (A) (according to specification) .
Move aside the exhaust bracket plate (12) .

DRAIN THE POWER STEERING CIRCUIT .
Unclamp the power steering pipe (12a) from the sub-frame .
ALL MODELS
Hook the steering housing to the bulkhead .
Remove :
Move aside the pivot ball joints using tools [1] - [2] .
Take the weight of the sub-frame using a jack .
Remove :
Unscrew :
Remove :
3 - REFITTING
Always renew :
Centralise the sub-frame using tools [3] .
Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
WARNING : do not forget to refit the toothed washers between the steering rack and the sub-frame .
4 - TIGHTENING TORQUES
Bolts (20) for wishbone rear frame : 4.5 da.Nm .
Front surface (22) fixing bolts : 2 da.Nm .
Bolt(s) (18) securing the sub-frame to the body to 6.5 daNm .
Bolt(s) (19) securing the sub-frame to the body to 12.8 daNm .
Bolt(s) (21) securing the sub-frame to the body to 10 daNm .
Steering housing nuts (17) : 8 da.Nm .
Reaction link rod bolts (16) : 5 da.Nm .
Wishbone ball joint nut (15) : 4 da.Nm .
Fixing bolts (14) for the sub-frame tie bars : 5 da.Nm .
Nut (13) for securing the rod to the stabiliser bar : 6.5 da.Nm .
Wheels : 9 da.Nm .
