OVERHAUL FRONT PIVOT

1 - REMOVAL - REFITTING : BEARING

1 - 1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] Hub removal-fitting tool, including :

• [1a] bolt (-).0606-F1
• [1b] thrust button (-).0606-F4

[2] Locking cone extractor (-).0615-A1 .

[3] The bearing retaining plate (-).0617-A .

[4] Set of two half shells (-).0617-B .

[5] pressure plate (-).0617-C .

1 - 2 - REMOVAL

Remove :

• THE PIVOT
• the bearing lock circlip

Extract the hub using the tools [1], [2], [4] .

The threads of the extraction tools must be greased before each use .

Remove the sealing plate remaining on the bearing race (1) .

Remove the inner bearing race, Using a FACOM U52 type tool .

Retrieve the interior cage, put it back in place on the bearing .

Remove the front bearing using a press and tool [3] .

1 - 3 - REFITTING

IMPERATIVE : spray MOLYKOTE 321 R type slip compound into the pivot body housing before refitting the bearing .

IMPERATIVE : always fit a new bearing .

Press in the new bearing using the pressure plate [5] .

IMPERATIVE : spray MOLYKOTE 321 R type slip compound onto the hub .

Replace the front hub with the press using tool [5] .

Fit a new bearing retaining circlip in its groove .

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .

2 - REMOVAL - REFITTING : PIVOT BALL JOINT

2 - 1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[6] wrench for pivot bottom ball joint (-).0615-J .

2 - 2 - REMOVAL

REMOVE THE PIVOT .

With the pivot in the vice, remove the protective plate (2) .

Fit the tool [6] .

Remove the ball joint .

2 - 3 - REFITTING

Finger tighten the ball joint .

Fit the tool [6] .

Tighten the ball joint to 25 da.Nm .

Lock the ball joint in one of the notches (A) in the pivot .

Engage the new protective plate (2) on the body of the ball joint .

Immobilise the plate (2) by bending it at (B) into one of the notches in the ball joint .

Fit the pivot .
