REMOVAL - REFITTING FRONT BRAKE PADS (LUCAS C 57) CALIPER
1 - SPECIAL TOOLS
[1] clamp type FACOM DF.6-1 + flanges DF.6-3 .
2 - REMOVAL
Remove the filter from the brake fluid reservoir .
Partially drain the brake fluid reservoir using a clean syringe .
Fit : The filter .
Disconnect the brake pad wear warning leads .
Remove the bolt (1) .
NOTE : immobilise the column (2) .
WARNING : do not damage the gaiter (4) of the pillar .
Pivot the caliper (5) .
Remove the brake pads .
Visually check :
Check : THE DISC FOR WEAR .
Check the free movement of the caliper sliding sleeves (3) (4) .
Replace any defective parts .
3 - REFITTING
Clean carefully :
Using tool [1], push the piston fully into its bore .
Fit the brake pads .
Push back the caliper (5) .
NOTE : handle the caliper carefully in order not to strain the top pin (3) .
WARNING : make sure that the brake pad springs (8) are in the correct position .
Reconnect the brake pad wear warning leads .
Fit a new bolt (1) coated with threadlock loctite .
Tighten the bolt (1) to 2,5 da.Nm .
Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary .
IMPERATIVE : press the brake pedal several times, smoothly and gradually, engine running, before driving the vehicle .
Tighten the wheel bolts to 9 da.Nm .
