REMOVAL - REFITTING HANDBRAKE PRIMARY CABLE
1 - REMOVAL
Raise the vehicle .
REPLACE THE SECONDARY BRAKE CABLES .
Lower the vehicle .
4HP20 AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
Place the gear control lever in position N .
ALL MODELS
Using a spatula, unclip the trim (1) .
Raise the armrest (2) .
Using a spatula, unclip the trim (3) .
4HP20 AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
Pull the gear lever panel assembly (3), upwards, to detach it from the console .
Disconnect the connector (4) .
Remove the board (3) .
ALL MODELS
Refit the gaiter without removing the knob .
Remove the bolts (4) .
Raise the plate (5) at the rear .
Unclip then disconnect the connectors (6) .
Disconnect the connector from the cigarette lighter .
Remove the trim at the base of the storage box .
Remove the bolts (8) .
Remove the nut (9) .
Detach the cable (10) from the handbrake lever .
Remove the stop pin (11) .
Release the cable end .
Raise the vehicle .
Pull on the cable (9) then remove it .
NOTE : when removing the cable it is possible that the cable end (12) will become blocked at the opening of the guide tube (13) and prevent removal of the cable .
Two people are required to perform the following operation .
Manually guide the cable under the console, while pulling it from the bottom of the vehicle .
2 - REFITTING
Two people are required to perform the following operation :
Refit the stop pin (11) .
Screw in the nut (9) so that X is equal to 2 mm .
2 - 1 - CABLE FREE PLAY
Hook the secondary cables to the primary cable .
Turn the brake force distribution bolt (13) to adjust the tolerance (Pull the cables according to F in order to measure the tolerance Y) .
Pull the handbrake lever 10 times over the whole of its travel .
Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
IMPERATIVE : ADJUST THE HANDBRAKE .
