REMOVAL - REFITTING STARTER

1 - REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery .

REMOVE THE FRONT PRE-CATALYSER .

Remove :

• the 2 securing bolts (1) of the heat shield (2)
• the heat shield (2)

ML5T GEARBOX

Remove :

• the securing bolts for the heat exchanger pipes (3)

ALL MODELS

Disconnect the wires (4) (+ starter) and (5) (starter excitation) .

Remove the 3 securing bolts (6) from the starter .

To remove the starter, withdraw it completely to detach the nose and take out the starter, nose first .

2 - REFITTING

Reposition the wire (4) (+ starter) on the stud of the starter at the same time as repositioning the starter .

Tighten the 3 bolts (6) to 3,5 da.Nm. .

REPLACE FRONT PRECATALYTIC CONVERTER .

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
