Mitsubishi Motors think of the environmental effect not only
at the driving time but also in the automobile production
process. Over the whole process of manufacturing, Mitsubishi
is trying to reduce generation of wastes as much as possible,
utilizing efficiently the limited resources and a reduced
amount of energy.

Mitsubishi Motors have eliminated totally the use of such chemical substances in the automobile manufacturing process as damages the ozone layer, by introducing a new different manufacturing method. As to the boilers or industrial furnaces in the plant facility, which involve combustion, the fuel was changed over to the clean fuel. Proper countermeasures have been also taken to reduce dust and particulates. Regarding the waste water treatment; such disposal systems are used for to the respective facilities as are suitable to the characteristics of waste water to ensure thorough purification of waste water.

  • Total abolition of CFC: Ozone layer protection
  • Total replacement of trichloroethane: Ozone layer protection
  • Clean industrial fuel: Reduction of SOx and NOx
  • High performance dust collector device:
     Reduction of dust and particulates
  • Application of powder coating and water based paints:
     Reduction of HC
  • Effluent Treatment System

For automobile production such energy is required as electric power, city gas, petroleum, coke, etc. Mitsubishi Motors are tackling positively with the tasks of using such energy efficiently and re-utilizing it. For example, the co-generation system has been introduced, in which electricity is generated, while the heat produced thereby is recovered and utilized to obtain the steam and hot water. Moreover, a series of additional energy-saving measures have been taken, including the heat insulation system of plant, conversion into more efficient facility, selection of energy-saving type raw materials, checking of energy consumption of the respective departments, reduction of wastes, etc.

  • More efficient energy utilization
  • Co-generation system: re-utilization of energy
  • Recycle system of water-based paint
  • Reduction of wastes

To keep the harmony with the neighborhood of the plant, low noise equipment was introduced. At the same time, noise-proof structure of the plant buildings has been reinforced, along with adoption of various noise-proof and vibration-proof type manufacturing facilities.
Further, consideration is paid to the odor reduction in the parting facility, waste incineration facility, foundry, etc.

  • Introduction of low noise equipment
  • Adoption of noise-proof and vibration-proof structure of the plant
  • Odor elimination system by neutralization
