REMOVAL - REFITTING DISTRIBUTION VALVE

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] fitting drift (-).0720D .

[2] slide hammer (-).0316A .

2 - REMOVAL

Remove :

WARNING : to avoid polluting the power steering system, close both the distributor valve openings and both the steering pipes using plastic plugs .

Remove the bolt (1) .

Remove the clamp (2) .

Remove the supply pipes (3), (4) .

Plug the openings (5), (6) .

Unscrew the screw (7) several turns .

Remove the securing bolts (8) .

Tighten in a twin-jaw vice :

Turn the valve stem as far as the rack limit :

Mark the position of the valve stem centreline (10) in relation to the body (9) and the position of the steering rack in relation to the rack fixing .

NOTE : this operation will avoid realigning the steering wheel .

At the rack limit, continue to turn until the valve (9) is extracted from the housing (The pinion screw will lift the valve) .

Remove :

3 - REFITTING

Fit :

Grease the rack pinion (12) (TOTAL N3924/TOTAL N 3945) grease .

Draw some marks on the new valve identical to those on the valve which has been removed .

Position :

IMPERATIVE : ensure that the marks are in alignment .

Fit the distributor valve (9) using the tools [1], [2] .

WARNING : do not use the valve mounting bolts to fit it .

Tighten the bolts (8) to 1.5 daN.m .

Position the new O-rings (13) .

Fit the supply pipes (3) and (4) .

Tighten :

ADJUST THE DAMPER .

Fit :

Tighten the bolt (1) to 2,5 da.Nm .
