When the fossil fuel burns, CO2 , NOx, SOx, etc. are generated. If we consider unfavorable influence caused by them to the environment, the exploration of alternative energy source must be an extremely important theme. Mitsubishi Motors have picked up a variety of alternative energies with different characteristics, and are engaged in the research for their commercial application and practical use. Mitsubishi Motors have also paid attention to the ceramic gas turbine the exhaust gas of which is much cleaner and obtained such outstanding results as are ranked atop in the world.

  • Commercial application of electric vehicles
  • Development of hybrid electric vehicles
  • MBECS
(Motor Vehicle Brake Energy Conservation System)
  • Commercial application of LPG vehicles
  • Commercial application of natural gas vehicles
  • Development of methanol vehicles
  • Development of ceramic gas turbine engines

Improvement of fuel efficiency is not only useful for resource saving and cost reduction, but also it contributes to the reduction of generation of carbon dioxide (CO2) which causes global warming problem.
Mitsubishi Motors succeeded, for the first time in the world, in the mass production of the engine with GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) inside the gasoline cylinder, which reduces the formation of CO2 and fuel consumption. GDI engines are already mounted at many Mitsubishi Cars. Mitsubishi has also developed such direct injection diesel engines for trucks and buses as simultaneously achieve the exhaust gas reduction and lower fuel consumption. Further, Mitsubishi is exploring every possibility of better fuel efficiency in all sections of vehicles.

  • GDI Engine
  • Direct injection diesel engine

  • Improvement of fuel efficiency
     by reduction of vehicle weight
  • Fuel consumption saving
     by reducing air resistance
  • Fuel consumption saving
by use of highly efficient transmission
