One of the major causes of acid rain and environmental pollution is the emission of NOx and particulates particularly from diesel engine. Although it is technically difficult to reduce NOx and particulates at the same time, Mitsubishi Motors have developed various systems which enables of reduction of both. Moreover, Mitsubishi Motors have put into practical use the ceramic filter, such as DPF system etc., that eliminates particulates. For prevention of ozone layer destruction, Mitsubishi Motors have totally abolished CFC which had been used as coolant of car air conditioner.

In parallel with air pollution, noise is one of the important factors in considering the road traffic environmental problem. Mitsubishi Motors designed low-noise car system by integrating the most-advanced technologies such as the method to visually check the generation of noise and brought a remarkable effect in noise reduction for all vehicle models.
What is more, Mitsubishi Motors, in tie up with tire manufacturers, is positively promoting the research effort for the reduction of noises coming from the contact between the wheel and road surface.
