REMOVAL - REFITTING STEERING MECHANISM DAMPER

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] 18 mm/flat hexagonal recess (-).0720-G .

[2] Tap for the steering mechanism (-).0722 .

2 - REMOVAL

REMOVE THE STEERING MECHANISM .

WARNING : to avoid contaminating the power steering circuit, close the two openings of the distributor valve and of the steering pipes using plastic caps .

Immobilise the steering in a vice .

Using the tool [1], remove :

• the cap (1)
• the washer (2)
• the rubber spacer (3)
• the damper (4) with its o-ring (5)

3 - REFITTING

Protect the bottom of the bore with a lint-free cloth .

Tap the thread of the steering rack using the tool [2] until the points of resistance disappear .

Carry out the operation with care in order to prevent the entry of contaminating particles .

Clean the parts and the thrust button bore in the housing .

Always replace all the parts of the damper function .

IMPERATIVE : GREASE THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY WITH G13 GREASE .

Fit :

• the damper (4) with its o-ring (5)
• the rubber spacer (3)
• the washer (2)
• the cap (1)

Tighten the cap (1) to 1 da.Nm (Using the tool [1]) .

ADJUST THE CLEARANCE OF THE STEERING MECHANISM DAMPER .

REFIT THE STEERING MECHANISM .
